Borderlands 2 review on the Xbox 360 (all platforms available).
This game is brilliant, simply brilliant. If you’re not usually a fan of shooter games don’t worry, this will turn you into one. Borderlands 2 is something of a unique game that changes the rules.
The immersive world of Borderlands 2 is a strange place. Imagine Star Wars meets “The good the bad and the ugly” and you’re somewhere close. Normally science-fiction and westerns don’t overlap but here it feels natural and entertaining.
Gearbox had created a masterpiece in Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2 is a giant step forward and a worthy successor. The planet of Pandora is reminiscent of the post-apocalyptic Mad Max playground but still has a quirky and light-hearted feel to it, despite the violence.
The plot is stronger than some current games, with Hyperion’s man-on-the-ground ‘Handsome Jack’ trying to kill everyone around, but ultimately the player is immersed in gunbattles and frequent looting. War ensues between the Hyperion Corporation and a dishevelled group of prospectors.
As in Borderlands1, there is a choice of four character groups each with special powers. You play this game best with a team of friends that you know. It can be absolutely hilarious, especially as you have so many weapons to choose from.
